Tyson Fury has broken his social media silence and revealed why potential suitors for a summer fight have fallen through.
Fury hasn’t fought since defeating old friend Derek Chisora for a third time last December. It had been assumed ‘The Gypsy King’ would go onto face Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship, but that fight fell through at the last moment when the Ukrainian’s team pulled out due to rematch financials.
Frank Warren, Fury’s UK promoter, admitted that finding the WBC champion a summer opponent was proving problematic.
Andy Ruiz Jr had been the frontrunner at one stage but Warren ruled him out due to excessive financial demands, and now Tyson has revealed on Instagram just how much the former champion was asking for.
“I’ve been off Instagram for a while, I’ve been on holiday, I’ve been chilling, I’ve been training, I’ve been eating. Just want to say to everybody that I want to knock all these motherf**ker’s out. I’ve not fought since December through no fault of my own, I’ve tried to fight Usyk and he’s not wanting anything, I’ve tried to fight AJ, he don’t want no smoke.
Andy Ruiz has asked for $20million, silly little b**tard I don’t know where he’s getting that from.
Zhang was a good little fight but Joyce wants his rematch so that’s not happening now.
I’m looking to fight anybody, any place, I cannot wait to fight Usyk, AJ, I’m f**king you up because I am the baddest motherf**ker on the planet.”
Zhilei Zhang is contractually obliged to run it back against Joe Joyce, which begs the question, who will the heavyweight champion of the world face next?
