Tyson Fury has given Mahmoud Charr the green light to face him if Anthony Joshua doesn’t meet his ultimatum of signing the contract today – one that ‘AJ’s team has called unreasonable.
Despite positive comments from Joshua, his promoter and Fury’s own promoter that progress is still being made, ‘The Gypsy King’ has made up his mind – if it’s not a done deal today, he moves on.
It’s a decision that could justify the cynicism many had towards the fight, and a blow for those who believed it might happen. The fact that it comes after Joshua himself confirmed that he intended to sign once his lawyers had looked over the contract makes it all the more frustrating for boxing fans.
Fury confirmed the deadline again today via social media.
“Today is D-day people. F**king D-day. You gonna sign the contract you big pussy, or are you not gonna sign it? When [Deontay] Wilder sent me the contract for [our first fight], I signed it within 24 hours because I wanted to smash his face in. You [Joshua] have had the contract ten days now, b**ch. Still ain’t signed it. If it’s not done by five o’clock today, GK [The Gypsy King] is moving on.
He fancies himself as a bit of a J Hussy, but really he’s just a big bodybuilding pussy.”

The opponent who has been mentioned as an alternative to former-champion Joshua, is Mahmoud, formerly Manuel, Charr. The 37-year-old German heavyweight has a record of 33 wins with 4 losses. After a 4 year layoff between 2017 and 2021, he has fought twice, beating Christopher Lovejoy and Nikola Milačić.
Upon hearing of the ultimatum, Charr took to Instagram.
“Salaam alaikum, Tyson Fury. You know and I know that Anthony pussy [boy] will not sign the paper tomorrow. Take my challenge. I am ready for you.”
Fury responded positively, writing:
“If he don’t sign today you are in Big G and [you] can show them how a real man throws down.”
As of the time of writing, Charr is not in the WBC heavyweight top 15. He does, however make the top 20 – just. If Fury’s word is to be kept, and Joshua’s team is right in saying that it’s too early for the contract to be signed, the WBC Champion will face the organisation’s number 19 ranked contender on December 3 in Cardiff.
