Although talk of an undisputed heavyweight world title fight in Saudi Arabia between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk has been rampant over the past couple of months, there is yet to be any confirmation of written offers being sent to either man.
However, with Usyk announcing a link up with Skills Challenge Entertainment over the weekend, it’s safe to assume he will have no problem agreeing terms for a legacy defining clash.
And, according to Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk, Fury can expect to receive a take it or leave it offer for a fight with Usyk “very soon.”
Speaking to iFL TV, Krassyuk said:
“According to my knowledge, they will receive a formal written offer very soon. And it will be Tyson’s decision whether to take it or leave it.”
“We’ve done everything possible to make this fight happen, and now the ball is on Tyson’s side. It’s a take it or leave it offer.”
“If you take it, then you have a big fight – the biggest fight of your career. If you hesitate, or if you try to trade out something, or try to swing around, then it shows that you are not serious, and you have to relinquish the belt and retire.”
“Not for one month, or one week like you usually do, probably forever.”
The fight appeared to have been agreed earlier this year, however talks between the two camps publicly collapsed, with most observers laying blame firmly at the door of ‘The Gypsy King,’ although he himself believes Usyk was ‘scared.’
However, the historic four belt unification looks to be back on due to the heavy investment on the table, and could even land on the same card as Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder.
