Tyson Fury has now confirmed that he is in talks to potentially return to the boxing ring for an exhibition fight.
The WBC heavyweight champion remains adamant that he has retired from professional boxing.
Fury (32-0, 23 KOs) was last seen in April, at Wembley Stadium, when he stopped number one-ranked challenger Dillian Whyte inside six rounds.
He then said that he would not be fighting again unless it was against Anthony Joshua – his fellow Brit who he said he would fight for free – or the current WBA Super, IBF, IBO and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Usyk dethroned the aforementioned Joshua at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London last September and faces the 32-year-old in a rematch on August 20 at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Fury said that it would take $500million to be put on the table to tempt him out of retirement, with Usyk high on the hit list at the time.
But ‘The Gypsy King’ has now reneged on those ideas and confirmed that plans are afoot for him to meet Hafthor Bjornsson in November.
Fury spoke to The Telegraph regarding the spectacle:
“It would be a bit of fun.”
“It would be great to get in there in front of, say, 70,000 fans and show him what boxing is all about, make him miss and knock him out.”
The fight will be an exhibition, with a stadium to be confirmed in London, England, set to host the clash between Fury and former Game of Thrones star ‘Thor’, who made headlines with an exhibition bout of his own back in March, flooring his strongman rival Eddie Hall twice to win by unanimous decision.
Fury added:
“We are talking to his team at the moment and it is definitely something I’m interested in.”
