Tyson Fury’s new reality show on Netflix has offered fans an insight into how the WBC Heavyweight Champion reacted when Oleksandr Usyk successfully defended his world titles against Anthony Joshua.
The rematch took place in August of 2022, a couple of months after Fury had announced a shock, and short-lived, retirement from boxing.
He sits down with his family to watch the fight in episode four – titled ‘Fighting Temptation’ – of the Netflix series at the 20-minute mark.
Despite having harsh words for him in the past, he was right behind fellow Brit, Joshua, getting the job done, and was shouting instructions at the screen throughout.
“Go on AJ – good jab son! Left hook to the body, let’s go! Bang, bang, bang! Let them rip, both hands.”
When ‘AJ’s output dipped, ‘The Gypsy King was even more animated.
“Come on, get stuck in, son. Swing some shots for god’s sake. This is shockingly s***e.”
His verdict of the fight entire was a negative one, and he remained convinced that both men are easy nights for him.
“I’ll go over there and fight them both in the same night. That’s how s**t they are. I use [Usyk] as a dishrag. I thought it was a s**t fight. I thought it was a proper s**t fight. It wasn’t even worth a British title.”
Fury would announce the reversal of his retirement not long after, and call out both Usyk and Joshua for a December fight. Ultimately, he made a voluntary defence of his world title against Derek Chisora.
As Usyk looks to defend the belts he kept that night against Daniel Dubois this month and Joshua continues on a comeback trail, Fury will be out in October against MMA star, Francis Ngannou.
