One fast-rising American heavyweight might be lacking in experience, but he isn’t lacking in confidence as he declares himself ‘the best on the planet.’
Jared Anderson has won all 16 of his fights, 15 by knockout and just one over the distance. He has shown great power on his way up and many are tipping him to make it to the top, including himself.
Speaking to SHOWTIME Sports, he was asked about sparring current WBC belt holder Tyson Fury.
“It was a few years again back in 2020. It was a great experience, he’s a great guy, a helluva talent, we got in there and it was some chess matches in there for sure. I think we picked each other’s brains a lot in there, had to make each other work to our full potential.”
He was then asked if he thinks Fury is still the best heavyweight on the planet.
“No comment. Every man gonna say it but I believe I’m the best heavyweight on the planet. Let’s just go with that. I can’t go wrong saying myself.”
Fury is an undefeated two-time world champion, and does indeed receive the honour of the very best by a majority of pundits and fans. Unified champion, Oleksandr Usyk, may too be in the conversation. Anderson, at 23, has a ways to go.
‘Big Baby’ was asked to clarify comments he made about taking over the division.
“I meant that I’m taking the right steps in order to become the best heavyweight in the world and be crowned that. I believe I’m a king already, for who I am, how I speak, how I walk, just being that for the people who need me to be, people who are fighting for something bigger, who need me to show them that you can do it.”
With his powerful fists and potent words, Anderson sure is winning himself plenty of fans in the marquee division as he aims for big things.
