Jaron Ennis is viewed unanimously be the boxing fraternity as a world champion in waiting, and put in another very impressive performance against Romain Villa this past weekend.
With his IBF interim welterweight strap on the line, Ennis dominated Villa from the opening bell, right up until he secured the 28th stoppage of his career in round ten.
Fans on social media have been fawning over the virtuoso showing from ‘Boots,’ who landed every shot in the book against the tough but ultimately overmatched Colombian.
One particular flurry from Ennis in round seven has gained traction online, where he starts off his shots in near slow motion, before whipping them in at speed.
The resurgence of the Ennis hype train will no doubt be at the pleasure of his backers at PBC, particularly given that many observers felt his last showing, a decision victory against Karen Chukhadzian, was an underwhelming one.
Ennis will have more than one eye on the undisputed welterweight world title fight between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr, which takes place on July 29th at the T-Mobile Arena.
The 26 year old is first in the queue for a shot at whichever of his countrymen emerges with all four world titles later this month, though a two way contractual rematch clause is in place for Spence vs Crawford.
Many feel Ennis is ready for a shot at either of the two pound for pound stars next. though it remains unclear as of yet whether or not either will hang around at 147lbs after they finish their business together.
