A date and venue for the Oleksandr Usyk-Anthony Joshua rematch is expected to be finalised within the next two weeks.
Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk also told Sky Sports that late June is being considered for the heavyweight title fight.
“Many things will depend on how fast we manage to ink the papers. The good thing is that Usyk is already in Europe to start his preparation,” said Krassyuk.
Ten days ago, Usyk himself broke the news that he had decided to start preparing for the return bout against Joshua. This came after the 35-year-old left Ukraine having fought alongside his compatriots against Russia’s invasion of their country.
Usyk defeated Joshua on points last September at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, a rematch clause had been negotiated allowing ‘AJ’ another shot at the Ukrainian. A win for the Brit would make him a three-time heavyweight champion. Another victory for Usyk would once again reinforce his credentials as one of the greatest fighters in the sport today.
