Oscar Valdez and Shakur Stevenson have signed their contracts to unify the super-featherweight division.
Both published a photograph of themselves on social media with pen and paperwork while Top Rank, who promote the two fighters, confirmed the news on Twitter.
“Stay tuned for the official #ValdezStevenson details to come.”
The WBC champion (Valdez) and the WBO champion (Stevenson) have been linked to a unification fight in recent months and now the mouth-watering matchup is a reality.
Recent speculation placed the fight on April 30 in Las Vegas. The same night as the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano super-fight at Madison Square Garden, New York. Whether or not the Valdez-Stevenson bout goes ahead at the same time remains to be seen.
Valdez (30-0, 23 KOs) last fought in September when he successfully defended his title against Robson Conceicao by beating the Brazilian on points. Stevenson (17-0, 9 KOs) became world champion a month later when he outclassed Jamel Herring to take the WBO strap from him after a 10th round stoppage.
