Vanes Martirosyan is currently gearing up for the biggest fight of his career. On May 5th, the Armenian native will take to the ring at The StubHub Center in California.
His opponent will be the feared and ferocious knockout sensation and budding middleweight ring legend, Gennady Golovkin.
He will be a late replacement for Mexican superstar, Saul Alvarez following the Clenbuterol scandal which has resulted in a six-month suspension.
Golovkin has recorded over 16 stoppages in world middleweight title fights since claiming the world title back in 2010.

Most have been so petrified by the idea of feeling Golovkin’s knockout power that they appear beaten before they even get inside those ropes.
Vanes was quick to say that will not be the case when he takes on the Kazakh. Vanes said he has ‘no fear’ coming into this fight.
“I’m not afraid of Gennady. I’m psyched to fight him. This is why I became a fighter. I’m not the only one taking this fight on short notice.”
Vanes went on to say every fighter has weaknesses and he will look to exploit that in Golovkin with a head-first assault approach.
“Everyone has a soft spot. I’ll find his. I have no fear.”
“We are going to war — Mexican Style. Two trains colliding.”
“We both love the Mexican Style of fighting.”
“We’re both hard-headed and heavy-handed. To me, it’s not a real fight without a lot of Mexican fans.”

I’m not fighting to survive. I’ll be fighting to win,” Vanes said.
Vanes also fired shots at Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
“I don’t run like the guy who pretended to eat a bad steak.”
Let’s see how Gennady reacts to a fighter who doesn’t move away after being hit. Gennady’s chin hasn’t been tested the way I’d like to test it.”
Additionally, Vanes shared that he believes that the Mexican would have been an easier opponent than Golovkin.

“Canelo is an easier fight than Gennady. Gennady has a fan-friendly style.”
The Armenian also claims Alvarez avoided him when he was in line for a title shot when both fighters campaigned at 154 lbs.
“Canelo ran from my mandatory challenge. That says a lot about him. That tells you everything about him,”
