Dave Allen has released the video of him being ‘knocked out’ by Oleksandr Usyk in sparring once again.
The former Commonwealth heavyweight title challenger spoke recently about being involved in prison-like camps with the Ukrainian as he prepared for fights.
Allen travelled to Usyk’s homeland two years ago, in the build-up to the latter’s win over Derek Chisora, and he opened up to Boxing Social about the reality of things in the same camp as the current unified heavyweight champion of the world.
Allen said:
“It was like a prison, to be honest. It was one of the worst experiences of my life.
I think I turned up at 18 stone 2lbs. Twelve days later when he chinned me in sparring, I was 16 stone 12lbs. So I’d lost 18lbs in twelve days through not eating and pretty much being stuck in a room.”
Allen announced in 2020, shortly after the incident that the world is now well aware of, that he would be ending his career as a fighter.
Though he made a ring return, it now seems the future of the new father is more in the gym as a trainer rather than the man to be hitting the pads.
Usyk went on after the win against Chisora to dethrone Anthony Joshua of the WBA Super, IBF, IBO and WBO titles in a win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
And as Usyk prepares to rematch the British golden boy on Saturday at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia, with WBC champion Tyson Fury’s recently-relinquished Ring Magazine title also at stake in a vacant capacity, Allen has once again released the footage of him being visibly snoozed after taking a flush left hand from the 35-year-old.
Oleksandr Usyk staggered Dave Allen in sparring and Allen later posted the clip. He said: "I didn't go down, but for all intents and purposes I'm knocked out from the second the left lands."
