Frank Warren has confirmed to Boxing Social that Zach Parker’s next fight could be against Demetrius Andrade.
Reports emerged on Wednesday night that Andrade will end his three-and-a-quarter year reign as WBO middleweight champion by moving to 168lbs.
Having already won a world title at super- welterweight the 33-year-old southpaw is now eyeing glory at a weight currently dominated by Canelo Alvarez.
Amongst a pack of contenders waiting for a shot at the undisputed champion, Britain’s Zach Parker is sits as the WBO number one contender.
Yet to taste defeat in 22 fights the Derby puncher was looking at a homecoming for his next fight but attention has now turned to facing Andrade.
“The WBO are going to order the Interim [super-middleweight] title for the fight,” said Warren who signed Parker to a promotional deal just under 12 months ago.
“We’re going to try and get that one over here, it will probably go to purse bids.”
Andrade, promoted by Eddie Hearn, is no stranger to fighting British opposition. The Rhode Islander holds wins over Brian Rose and Liam Williams and has also ended Irish world title hopes in the shape of Luke Keeler and Jason Quigley.
