Frank Warren Offers Eddie Hearn £1,000,000 Wager: “Let’s Make It Spicy”

Queensberry promoter Frank Warren has revealed his intentions of upping the stakes ahead of the Queensberry versus Matchroom card that has been requested by Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh, offering rival promoter Eddie Hearn a million pound bet on his team to win.

Al-Sheikh opened the Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou press conference by informing the public of his idea to stage a WWE style promotional showdown, which would pit five of Warren’s Queensberry fighters against five of Hearn’s Matchroom stable.

Fans are already jumping on the idea and making their picks for who should meet. In an interview with Mail Sport, Warren confirmed that he has not had chance to select his participants yet, as more details are needed in regard to what weight-classes will be chosen.

Although, Warren did announce that he would like to make a one-million pound wager with Hearn, confident that his team will come out on top across the five bouts.

“No [I haven’t thought of my five], but I will do. First of all, we have got to sort out the weights and what the weight-division’s will be, we will work that out and then between us see who it is [that we want to pick].

“The good thing about it, because there is five fights, there will be a winner. One of the teams will win, unless we get a draw, and to make it a little more spicy I would like to have a wager on it with him [Eddie Hearn] as well. [I will bet] a million pounds.”

Whilst fans hope that a potential Tyson Fury vs. Joshua clash could headline, it is unlikely to happen due to the two-way rematch clause in the Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk contract, plus the fact that such an event would be sellable on it’s own.

Instead, suggestions such as Anthony Yarde vs Callum Smith, Nathaniel Collins vs Hopey Price and Sam Noakes vs Andy Cruz appear far more likely.
