Whoever comes out on top of the historic undisputed clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will be presented with a brand new belt from the WBC.
The WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF and Ring Magazine titles will all be on the line in this epic battle on May 18 out in Saudi Arabia. It has been a long time coming – there has been no undisputed champion for some 25 years but that ends when these two unbeaten fighters put it all on the line.
Fury is looking to get back to his imperious best in this fight after a difficult night against Francis Ngannou that no one expected.
Usyk has had fewer problems in his last three contests – all against Brits – when he twice beat Anthony Joshua to win then defend three of the major titles, and then knocked out Daniel Dubois last time out back in August.
The head of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaiman, unveiled the special WBC belt at the press conference that officially announced the upcoming undisputed fight between light heavyweight champions Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev, which is scheduled for June 1st, also in Saudi Arabia.
