So far the World Boxing Super Series has been quite the success.
The two on going tournaments consisting of cruiserweights and super middleweights has created tons of buzz around the two divisions, especially at 168 pounds but luckily the boxers at cruiserweight are also getting a lot of attention which might have not come their way otherwise.

The biggest fight of the WBSS is happening on February 17th when George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr collide and put their WBA and IBO titles on the line in the semi-final stage of the tournament.
The Muhammad Ali Trophy will be a prestigious feather to anyone’s cap and promoter/tournament organiser Richard Schaeffer has confirmed that the focus will be on smaller divisions next year.
“[Next year] we will be completely looking to make a tournament in the smaller divisions, season two would be 118, 122 or 126. I’m sure there will be many Mexicans and other Latino fighters who will be invited to participate,” Schaefer revealed according to boxingscene.com
Schaefer added:
“Many of the fighters [in the ongoing tournaments] have been from Europe because at cruiserweight that’s where the best fighters are (Ukraine, Russia, Poland and Latvia), as well as two Cubans. Super middleweight is also strong in Europe, particularly with George Groves and Chris Eubank. they will face each other in the semi-final in February, which will undoubtedly be an event that will eclipse the world.”
Should there be a World Boxing Super Series tournament at super featherweight, one dominant fighter has expressed his desire to enter but only if the other champions participate as well.
And that fighter is none other than Vasyl Lomachenko.
“It depends on what the weights are. If it’s a weight in which I’m boxing in, then of course it will be interesting to me – because it would make it possible to win all of the belts in one big swoop – this is what I want, what I’ve been striving for for many years,” Lomachenko told Ukrainian Sport according to boxingscene.

As he has stated on numerous occasions, Lomachenko is after all the belts. ‘Hi-Tech’ currently only holds the WBO World super featherweight title and wants to pursue a unification championship fight in his division. Lomachenko recently dismantled Guillermo Rigondeaux in a fight that many expected to competitive but proved to be just another masterclass from the highly skilled Ukrainian.
In case ‘Loma’ does not get his big title fights at 130, he has made it clear that the alternative plan is to move up to lightweight at 135 pounds and challenge the likes of Mikey Garcia or Gervonta Davis.
