Undisputed super-middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s rant at Oscar De La Hoya at the Canelo-Munguia press conference has gone viral, responding to his former promoter who brought up failed drug tests from the past and told him to ‘put some respect on his name’.
Canelo split from De La Hoya and ‘Golden Boy Promotions’ in 2020 before going on a memorable run that saw him capture the undisputed throne in a matter of months.
Ever since, De La Hoya and Munguia have had a fierce rivalry but now they have the chance to settle their differences at Alvarez takes on one of Golden Boy’s newfound stars, 43-0 168lb contender and fellow Mexican, Jaime Munguia.
At the press conference, just two days before he and Munguia go head-to-head, Canelo and De La Hoya clashed as expected on the big stage, as the latter asked for respect before Alvarez stood up and engaged in a heated argument with his previous partner in Spanish.
On social media, Canelo’s words have now been translated and it has been revealed that he was mocking an incident involving De La Hoya and the sexualisation of kitchen utensils that hit the press in 2018.

“You have to read what you are saying, b****rd.
“They have to write what this f***ing f****t has to say.”
“You write it, you idiot.”
“You don’t write anything you b****rd, you don’t do anything.”
De La Hoya – “I wrote it.”
“You are an a***ole, you b****rd, the ones who do everything are behind you.”
“For this imbecile I have to my left. I was already Canelo when I came to the USA. He only profited from my name, he never lost a single cent. He made money. Have you paid Golovkin yet or did you try to rob him? Yes? Very good. But if I hadn’t brought my lawyers in, you would have robbed me. The only thing this does is be a scourge of boxing, steal from boxers.”
“Anyone who is with him, please bring lawyers because he is surely stealing. He has only come to steal the attention from Jaime Munguia. He also steals the attention of people who make things for the kitchen. They don’t know whether to make them like d***os because this puts them in him.”
Canelo will take great pleasure in putting an end to Munguia’s unbeaten streak but more so to aggravate De La Hoya than to outshine his fellow Mexican on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, topping a bill featuring another world title bout and two further WBC interim title showdowns.
