Promoter Eddie Hearn is eager to get Dillian Whyte a proper world class fight, whether it be a titleholder or a former champion.
‘The Body Snatcher’ grabbed the WBC Silver heavyweight belt in Cardiff against Robert Helenius via unanimous decision this past October. The win lifted Whyte into the number one spot in the WBC rankings and for a moment it looked like Whyte might actually get a title shot against WBC World heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder.
But Wilder is refusing to fight Whyte and Dominic Breazeale is the current mandatory challenger.
Hearn will have to set his sights away from the WBC and focus on Lucas Browne who has been offered a contract to fight Whyte. But because of a lockdown caused by Joshua-Parker negotiations, the former WBA World heavyweight champion Browne hasn’t accepted the deal against Whyte just yet because he has been also in talks with Parker.
“Dillian Whyte is always making noise and he’s a very controversial character,” Hearn told Sky Sports.
“He’s a very good heavyweight and he’s established himself as the No 1 ranked contender with the WBC, top five with the IBF, top 10 with WBA and WBO so he’s there or thereabouts.
“The fight we’re looking at is Lucas Browne on February 3 at the O2. Interestingly, Lucas Browne is in the Joseph Parker mix,” said Hearn.
In order for Whyte to get the fight, Joshua-Parker has to happen says Hearn.

Hearn believes a win over Browne will surely get Whyte a shot at a world title.
“If Parker doesn’t fight Anthony Joshua, he’ll probably fight Browne. So there’s even more incentive for us to make the Parker fight to make sure we can do Joshua-Parker and Browne-Whyte at the O2. Ultimately, it’s one more fight for Dillian Whyte and then a shot at the world heavyweight title for him,” said Hearn.
But interestingly enough Hearn also played with a match up that involved Dillian Whyte and the Ring Magazine heavyweight champion of the world.
