Having pulled an unlikely win out of the bag on the Day of Reckoning card, Agit Kabayel has now declared himself ‘ready’ for Anthony Joshua.
There was more than one upset on the event that ended the year in style back on December 23. While Joseph Parker’s shut out points victory over Deontay Wilder may be what is most talked about, a heavyweight bout lower on the bill proved just as surprising.
Kabayel was a huge underdog when stepping into the ring with Arslanbek Makhmudov in Riyadh. He boxed superbly well to quickly begin to break down the towering Russian and eventually stopped him in the fourth round.
The 31-year old’s performance stunned many onlookers and silenced any doubters about Kabayel’s ability, who now says it has put him in line for high-profile bouts, having also beaten the likes of Derek Chisora and Andrii Rudenko in his 24 fights without a loss.
He spoke to Pro Boxing Fans about a potential fight with Joshua.
“When the fight comes I’m ready for the big challenge.”
He then praised Joshua and said he would take the fight no problem.
“AJ’s a big name. I respect him 100%, he’s a very good opponent for me, and we are ready. I will give my best for the best fights and whether it comes, we will see.”
Should an ‘AJ’ fight be on the cards in the future, Kabayel will have to wait in line. Joshua has recently announced that he will face Francis Ngannou on March 8.
