# Confirmed: Wladimir Klitschko Officially Retired – Rematch NOT Happening

According to reports from the German newspaper Bild and promoter Eddie Hearn, former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has retired from professional boxing.

> I heard the news this morning from Bernd Boente that Wladimir Klitschko has decided to retire from boxing. We wish him all the success ??

This means that the anticipated rematch against Anthony Joshua in Las Vegas is officially off. Promoter Eddie Hearn and Joshua have both said that mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev is next in line if the Ukrainian declines the offer.
