This Saturday’s Queensberry Promotions main event pitting British super-featherweight champion Anthony Cacace against Leicester’s Lyon Woodstock has been postponed after the challenger tested positive for Covid-19. The rest of the show will proceed as planned.
The bout had been revived from last summer when the champion from Belfast withdrew after suffering serious dental issues. It found a new home on the Copper Box Arena show on February 27, originally headlined by Carl Frampton’s WBO 130lbs title tilt against Jamel Herring, but was promoted to main event status when ‘The Jackal’ pulled out with a hand injury last week.
In a statement, Frank Warren’s promotional company said:
“Queensberry can confirm that, after yesterday’s round of fighter testing, Lyon Woodstock unfortunately tested positive for Covid-19.
“There will be an update regarding the show later today. We wish Lyon a speedy recovery.”
