Barboza Jr. vs Sims Jr.: Anaheim
The later card at the Honda Center pairs two fighters looking for a reset after setbacks in 2025. Barboza Jr. (32-1, 11 KOs), who had won 32 straight before a unanimous decision loss to Teofimo Lopez in May, moves up to welterweight at 34. Sims Jr. (22-3-1, 8 KOs), ranked by all four sanctioning bodies at 140 pounds, is coming off a majority decision loss to Oscar Duarte in August.
Hall of Fame writer Graham Houston offered this assessment of the stylistic matchup: “There’s nothing flashy or particularly exciting about Barboza’s style but he’s a solid ring mechanic who has mastered the fundamentals. As for Sims, he has polished skills but he’s the sort of boxer who can become a bit too careful.”
Sims is the slight favourite. DraftKings lists him at -170, with Barboza the underdog at +135. BetMGM has a tighter line, Sims at -137 and Barboza at +125.
