Moses Itauma Fight Included in Filip Hrgovic’s Queensberry Deal: ‘I Can Beat Him’

A future fight with Moses Itauma was reportedly included in Filip Hrgovic’s deal at Queensberry Promotions, led by Hall-of-Famer, Frank Warren.

Hrgovic’s recent multi-fight deal with the London-based fight firm sees him first taking on David Allen in front of the Brit’s hometown fans at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster, however, should the 6-foot-6 Croatian fighter inflict a ninth loss on Allen’s record, he’ll collide with boxing‘s red hot youngster Itauma, he said.

A 20-fight pro, Hrgovic has just one loss to date — an eighth-round knockout to Daniel Dubois — which he has rebounded from with back-to-back 10-round decision wins over Joe Joyce and David Adeleye.

Should he win his next two, against Allen and Itauma, it puts him right back into world title contention.

“He’s one of the guys in my contract for the next fight,” Hrgovic told The Ring, regarding Itauma and what he’s agreed with Queensberry. “There’s a big possibility that I fight him next after Dave Allen.”

“I would like to fight him and think I can beat him.”

“A win against him would be awesome for my career, I’m in for that fight,” he said.

One of the most well-regarded 21-year-olds in boxing, Itauma has beaten Mariusz Wach, Dillian Whyte, and Jermaine Franklin Jr., all by knockout, in his last five fights, to advance his pro record to 14-0 (12 KOs).

Hrgovic, though, was unimpressed. “The reality is that he wasn’t in there with a great fighter.”

The 33-year-old said: “He never received a real punch. He was never dropped. He’s still not tested. He needs a good test. We need to see if he is a real warrior or not.

“He definitely has all the ability. He has technique, he has IQ, he’s fast. He’s a great fighter but we’ll see if he’s a real warrior,” he finished.
