Errol Spence Jr. Responds to Tim Tszyu’s Call-Out

American boxer Errol Spence Jr. has responded to Tim Tszyu’s recent call-out.

Tszyu defeated Denis Nurja by lopsided decision in New South Wales, Australia, on April 5 at middleweight to make it two wins in a row following a brutal knockout loss to Sebastian Fundora, and said post-fight he’s ready for Spence.

“Me and Errol Spence would be one helluva fight,” said Tszyu, as previously reported by Boxing Social. “It’s a banger.”

One man likely watching the whole thing with interest was Spence himself, and so it didn’t take long for him to issue a statement of his own.

While Spence did not confirm or deny that they’d fight next, with rumors linking the 36-year-old with a summer return to the ring, according to a Boxing Social source with knowledge of his movements, he did appear to indicate a willingness to throw hands.

“I’m do you so bad.”

Spence remains one of the most popular fighters in the entire sport as, during his prime, he was a reliable ticket-seller and a bona fide box office attraction thanks, in part, to his status in Texas and ability to bring celebrity fans to his events.

A long-time welterweight, Spence scored big wins over Kell Brook by knockout, Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia, and Yordenis Ugas, however, he is yet to box since his ninth-round knockout loss to Terence Crawford — one of the all-time great thrashings in the welterweight division.

Any comeback was never likely at 147 pounds, and he may have a clearer path back to world champion status should he bypass super welterweight — where killers like Sebastian Fundora, Vergil Ortiz, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, and Xander Zayas roam — to campaign at middleweight; the division in which Tszyu tested at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong.
