Terence Crawford on The Fight he Most Wants to See Shakur Stevenson in: ‘I Would Love to See’ it

All-time great boxer Terence Crawford has made no secret of whom he most wants to see his protege Shakur Stevenson fight next.

Crawford may have retired from the sport after his stunning, pound-for-pound victory over established super middleweight Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in September, last year, but he remains firmly invested in the sport, travels to see fights and fighters, and retains a core interest in the development of his friend Stevenson.

A 28-year-old southpaw long revered as a mirror to Floyd Mayweather — a southpaw version of Floyd’s greatness from the orthodox stance — the 28-year-old Stevenson’s stock has never been higher after back-to-back wins over William Zepeda in a WBC lightweight world title defense in 2025 and a new championship won after out-pointing Teofimo Lopez in a signature win earlier this year — one in which he annexed the champion’s WBO and The Ring super lightweight belts.

Stevenson has a lot of options to fight next.

But if Crawford had his way, there’s one that seemingly trumps the lot, and he said as much when speaking to Dani Pirello, highlighting three prospective bouts he most wants to see, making sure to include the best fight, he thinks, that Stevenson could take.

“There are so many big fights to be made,” he said.

“I would love to see Keyshawn Davis versus Devin Haney.”

“I would love to see ‘Bam’ [Jesse Rodriguez] versus [Naoya] Inoue.”

“And I would love to see Shakur versus [Gervonta] ‘Tank’ Davis.”

Whether such a fight were to ever get made remains to be seen. Stevenson, for instance, has indicated he’s tired of talking about Tank. And Davis has lingering civil and legal issues, which thus complicates any return to the ring.

Gervonta has not boxed in a year, since a disputed draw with Lamont Roach Jr. Davis was supposed to rematch Roach, yet the fight never materialized and he appeared, instead, in promotion for a crossover spectacle with Jake Paul.

However, the Most Valuable Promotions founder canceled the Tank exhibition after further allegations of domestic abuse came to light.

Tank is yet to fight.
