Keyshawn Davis sent a clear message to Conor Benn when talking to reporters in Las Vegas during the David Benavidez vs Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez fight week.
Benavidez told Boxing Social ahead of his Cinco de Mayo challenge for Zurdo’s unified cruiserweight world championship titles that American boxing is in a healthier place than before, citing his own fight, together with Ryan Garcia’s beating of Mario Barrios, and Shakur Stevenson’s masterclass against Teofimo Lopez, as examples of younger fighters showing their hunger by taking on tough challenges.
Well, Davis vs Benn could be the next in line.
Benn recently left Matchroom for Zuffa Boxing in a one-fight deal worth a reported $15 million, scored a relatively unimpressive decision win over Regis Prograis in his debut for the upstart fight firm, before renewing terms for a five-fight deal over 2.5 years.
Now, the British slugger is eyeing his next opponent and has called out everyone from Shakur Stevenson and, seemingly, Keyshawn Davis.
But Davis has now responded.
“Conor Benn, you better stay away from me,” the American said.
“I’m giving you your fair warning. You better stay away from me, Conor Benn. I’m telling you that now. Leave me alone.”
He later added: “I got hella respect for Conor Benn on the boxing tip I feel he is small, T-rex arms, and my defense is too good for Conor Benn for him to even come close to touching me.
“And that goes for a lot of people at 140 and 147. A lot of these guys cannot beat me at all, and they know it.”

Davis added: “They don’t want to get in the ring with me unless they’re making millions of dollars. I understand. I wouldn’t want to fight me, neither.
“I would love to fight you, Conor Benn,” he finished.
