Tim Tszyu ‘Ready to Retire’ Errol Spence Jr. Forever

Tim Tszyu faces the biggest fight of his life on Saturday, July 25 but, speaking two months out from the event, on May 2, appeared unfazed, and even confident, that he’ll not only secure victory against the big-name American, but retire him from the sport forever.

Both fighters have taken their licks in recent beatings. For Tszyu, he was forced to regroup after losses to Bakhram Murtazaliev and also Sebastian Fundora, rebounding, in style, to win two fights in a row to set up the upcoming battle with Spence, who fights for the first time in more than 1,000 days after Terence Crawford knocked him out in one of the biggest fights in 2023.

“They call him ‘The Truth’, the ‘Big Fish’,” Tszyu said at the media event, in a statement sent to Boxing Social.

“I’ve always said I’m hunting the biggest fights and biggest names and now I’ve got one right in front of me.”

He then revealed his motivation.

“I’ve kept the receipts from everything he’s said about me – the tweets, the doubt, all of it. This motivates me even more to knock him out.”

“I respect what Errol Spence Jr. has done in this sport, but that was then,” he said.

“While he’s been staying away, I’ve been in the fire,” Tszyu added. “I’ve taken my hits, I’ve learned the hard way, and I know I’ve come back better. I’m ready to retire him.

“I’m undefeated at home and he’s stepping into my backyard. While he’s trying to prove he’s still there, I’m about to prove that ‘The Truth’ was a lie all along.”
