David Benavidez has revealed plans for a unique clash with Dmitry Bivol that could see six world titles on the line in a historic catchweight fight.
Following his dominant cruiserweight title-winning performance against Gilberto Ramirez on May 2 at T-Mobile Arena, Benavidez has emerged as one of the biggest names across multiple divisions. While many fans continue to push for a showdown with Canelo Alvarez, Benavidez is also actively targeting Bivol.
Currently, Benavidez holds the WBC light heavyweight title, while Bivol owns the WBA, WBO, and IBF belts at 175 pounds.
Benavidez wants an unprecedented catchweight fight
Rather than fighting strictly at light heavyweight or cruiserweight, Benavidez, speaking with Sean Zittel, suggested creating something entirely different.
“I was thinking how we could make that fight even bigger,” Benavidez said.
The newly crowned cruiserweight champion explained that he wants the matchup to take place at a 190-pound catchweight while combining titles from two divisions.
“I was thinking we could do a catchweight at 190lbs, we get the cruiserweight belts involved, the light-heavyweight belts involved, and the winner takes all.”
If finalized, the fight could become one of the most unique title fights in modern boxing history. It would potentially place six major world titles on the line in a single contest.
Benavidez believes Bivol could be interested
Benavidez also pointed to Bivol’s previous comments about a possible move up in weight.
“Dmitry said he wanted to fight for the cruiserweight championship before his career was over,” Benavidez explained.
That statement gave ‘The Monster’ confidence that the fight could realistically happen under the right circumstances.
“So maybe we can make an even bigger fight like that,” he added.

Bivol has long been viewed as one of boxing’s most technically gifted fighters, and a fight for cruiserweight titles would be huge for the Russian.
Multiple options are opening for Benavidez
The proposal further highlights the growing number of major opportunities now available to Benavidez following his move to cruiserweight.
After stopping Ramirez and capturing the WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles, Benavidez positioned himself as a legitimate threat across several weight classes. His combination of size, speed, and pressure has made him one of the sport’s most dangerous fighters.
A clash with Bivol would also answer major questions about how Benavidez handles one of the best pure boxers in the world.
Meanwhile, Bivol is scheduled to defend his titles against Michael Eifert at UMMC Arena Ekaterinburg on May 30. Following that, he is expected to face Artur Beterbiev in a trilogy bout.
As for Benavidez, he has expressed a strong desire to face Jai Opetaia; however, Opetaia’s singing with Dana White’s new boxing venture, Zuffa Boxing, has complicated the situation.
Many have suggested Benavidez move up and take on Oleksandr Usyk for the heavyweight titles. So many options are open; it will be interesting to see against whom the newly crowned cruiserweight champion chooses to fight next.
