Adrien Broner challenged a reporter to go a round with him in a boxing ring during a virtual media event this week.
The soon-to-be 33-year-old makes his anticipated return on August 20, at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, against Omar Figueroa and has aspirations to become a world champion once again.
During the Q&A session from various members of the media Broner spoke of his excitement to be back boxing and how he refuses to look beyond the challenge of Figueroa.
Then came a couple of questions that irked the four-weight world champion beginning with:
“Adrien you’ve made so many statements throughout your career and so many milestones and achievements. Do you think there’s still one or two statements that Adrien Broner has left in the tank in terms of really good memories to come in the future? And is that why you’re persisting with this adventure because you’ve achieved so much? Is that the case for Adrien Broner to have one final stand, one final moment to look back on?”
As he lay casually on a bed, Broner replied:
“Hey man, you talking to me like I’m 65-years-old. Do you know who you’re talking to? I’m AB, man. You tripping.”
The next media member used the previous question to lead into his own.
“Jumping in on what the last guy asked AB I am curious do you have an idea in your mind how much longer you wanna do this? No, you’re not old but you’ve been doing it a long time and sometimes this sport politically and stuff can be aggravating. Do you know how much longer you’re gonna fight?”
Broner was none too impressed.
“Man, look. This is what I’m gonna tell you to do. You bring your a** out here and try to go a round with me. And see if I’ve got some more in the tank.”
And with that ended the journalist’s line of questioning.
