Amir Khan is one of the 38 men unfortunate enough to have shared a professional ring with Terence Crawford, having been stopped in six rounds when the pair met at Madison Square Garden in 2019.
The two actually formed somewhat of a friendship after that point, with Khan training with Crawford and his team ahead of his 2022 grudge match with Kell Brook.
It’s clear to see spending that all that time working both with and against Crawford has left a lasting impression on the Bolton man, who fawned over ‘Bud’ and confidently backed him to get the better of Errol Spence Jr by points in a recent interview with FightHub.
“I’ve got Terence winning that fight, unanimously. Not by stoppage, because Spence is a tough and tricky fighter.
He just breaks down a fight so easily, does Crawford. I remember, even with the speed I had and throwing combinations, he was making me miss by inches. Then he’d lean back and catch me every time. He’s so precise and his timing is on point.
He’s probably one of the best fighters I’ve ever seen, he reminds me a bit of Andre Ward.”
Crawford and Spence will lock horns for the undisputed welterweight world championship on July 29th at the T-Mobile Arena, in an historic fight that could see the winner ascend to pound for pound number one.
Crawford is a slight betting favourite with the odds makers at the present day, however fans, the media and other fighters appear to be split right down the middle on what is arguably the most important fight the sport has seen for a generation.
