Before Chris Eubank Jr’s fight on ITV Box Office, studio guest Amir Khan talked about his current situation and vowed to get things back on track again.
As we all know, Khan has made headlines actively but not because of boxing. Khan’s Twitter incident with his wife and Anthony Joshua was well documented. Khan was also feuding with his own family but the former champion has put all that in the past now.
“Sometimes people forget that I am a boxer. A lot has gone on with my family, divorce and everything, but I need to move away and put that behind me and focus on what I do best. Spending more time in the gym,” said Khan.
During the interview, Khan apologised for everything that has been going on and said that the main focus is to get a fight date.
“The main thing is to get a fight date really. One thing about the British fans is that they forget quite a lot and move on. But I do want to apologise because a lot has been going on in my life and I thinks probably stuff that people didn’t want to read or see,” told Khan
According to Khan, he needs to prove the critics wrong and reclaim his position as one of the best fighters in the country.
“I think it’s my time now to shine again and prove my doubters wrong. And prove to myself that this is where I belong. I belong in the ring and being one of the best fighters in Britain,” explained Khan.
Whoever the future opponent, a win would surely do good for Khan, who hasn’t won a professional bout since 2015.
“The next time I fight, people would still come and see what’s going to happen. ‘Is Amir still the same fighter he was before? Coming off the loss against Canelo, is still going to have it in him?’ It’s a good time to show myself and showcase myself, but at the same time I think it’s going to reboot my career,” he said.
