Former world champion Amir Khan has given his prediction as to what would happen had Floyd Mayweather ever have fought current pound-for-pound superstar Terrence Crawford.
Khan chased a fight with undefeated and multiweight world champion Mayweather for many years, though never managed to get him in the ring.
He did fight the current unified welterweight champion Terrence Crawford, however. That was a WBO world title fight in 2019 that ended when Khan retired in his corner after taking a low blow in the sixth round.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Khan mused on a fantasy super fight between the two that he would love to see.
“When I used to see [Crawford] spar I thought wow this guy was special. What a fight that would have been. I would have Crawford beating Mayweather.”
Khan then went on to break the fight down based off his own experiences of facing Crawford, who many now regard as one of the best in the sport.
“His IQ is just something else. When I fought him he was making me miss by an inch. I’d be getting frustrated, then he’d be hitting me with a shot that would get me angry and I’d be making mistakes. Say what you want, he’s one the best at 147, and it’s amazing I shared the ring with one of the best fighters in the 147 lbs division.”
