Amir Khan announced a big decision today at a press conference at The Dorchester Hotel in London. The press conference’s details were kept under the radar up until the last minute.
However, after being joined by his father, Eddie Hearn and Sky Sports mogul Adam Smith on the podium, it was revealed that Khan had entered into a collaboration with Matchroom Boxing.
Delighted to confirm I’ve signed a three-fight deal with @EddieHearn & @MatchroomBoxing. I’ll be fighting live on @SkySportsBoxing on April 21st in Liverpool. Can’t tell you how excited I am to fight in the UK once again. #BackToBusinesspic.twitter.com/Mx41hcAbcW

The deal with Matchroom is a three-fight deal with the first fight coming on April 21st.
That first fight is against an unconfirmed opponent whose identity is set to be revealed early next week.
“It is a press conference, that we probably thought we’d never see. But it is one I am hugely excited about,” Hearn began.
Amir Khan will return to action live on Sky Sports, April 21st at The Echo Arena. He signed a three-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing and Sky Sports Boxing.
We are delighted to have him back boxing in the U.K. Nearly five years since he last boxed in this country. One of the biggest stars in world boxing, back at a time where British Boxing is booming.

“Last time he fought here, British boxing was in a good place. Now, we are kings of the world and ‘The King’ is back!”
“April 21st is going to be a lot of fun, we are going to be moving towards some of the biggest fights in the division.”
“It was great to sit down with Amir for the last few months and weeks, particularly finding out the desire that he has to be a champion again, the desire he has to fight again,” the face of Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn added, on a final note.
Amir Khan then was given his chance to add in his two cents.
‘The King’ added, “No one ever thought me and Eddie would be sat at the same table. Maybe up against each other. But not being on the same team.”

“We decided to put everything behind us, Eddie, in my opinion, is the best promoter in the U.K.
“I want to start fighting in the U.K a lot more now. It is all about being with the best, being with the best team,” Khan added.
“This is where I belong, I started off my career.”
“My last couple of years, having a hand injury and everything going on in my personal life, but now it is time to put that behind me and become a champion again,” Khan said, on a final note.
