Andy Lee was a talented boxer who fought his way to a world title, and he is now proving himself to be a fine coach and top-level tactician who has now spoken about the Tyson Fury versus Oleksandr Usyk fight.
Lee lifted the middleweight title in 2014 by by knocking out Matt Korobov but then lost a majority decision to Billy Joe Saunders in his second defence.
At one point in his career, he trained out of the famous Kronk Gym in Detroit and after hanging up his gloves has worked with Kronk legend Sugar Hill, most notably in the corner of Tyson Fury for his fights with Deontay Wilder.
It resulted in a deserving points win out in Saudi Arabia on the Day of Reckoning card. Now he has spoken to Boxing Social about the trajectory Fury has been on throughout his career ahead of the undisputed fight.
“It would be an unbelievable redemption arc for the loud, cocky guy who beat Klitschko, had battles with mental health, went up to 30 stone, then one day woke up, turned it around, beat Wilder in an unbelievable trilogy then goes on to be undisputed.
“Tyson has always wanted the fight. The public don’t really know the real man. Nothing is given in boxing, you have to earn it, but I think he will earn it. To me, he looks great.”
He was then asked if Fury could knock out Usyk.
“I’m not going to say anything like that. It’s disrespectful. He’s a champion himself. It will be a battle for the ages. It won’t be easy for either of them. They both have ways to win, but I think Fury has more ways to win.”
