Former Unified Heavyweight World Champion Andy Ruiz Jr (34-2) makes his comeback this weekend, following a 16-month absence, as he takes on Luis Ortiz (33-2) on Sunday September 4th at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and will be live streamed on Fox Sports PPV.
Ruiz will be looking to improve upon his last performance against Chris Arreola in May of last year, but has the perfect chance to silence his doubters as he goes toe-to-toe with an ageing Ortiz.
Similarly, 43-year-old Ortiz was less than impressive in his most recent outing, despite knocking out former world champion Charles Martin in the 6th round of their New Year’s Day bout.
Also on the card is Isaac Cruz (23-2-1), who fights Eduardo Ramirez (27-2-3) for the WBC Silver Lightweight title, as Cruz seeks to get his name back amongst the world title contenders following his defeat to Gervonta “Tank” Davis last year.
Middleweight prospect Joseph Spencer (15-0) is up against Kevin Salgado Zambrano (14-0-1), with both fighters unbeaten since turning professional. Meanwhile, the WBO NABO Super-Bantamweight title is up for grabs, with Ra’eese Aleem (19-0) defending his title against Filipino Mike Plania (26-1).
Jose Valenzuela (12-0) makes his first defence of his WBC Continental Americas Lightweight belt against challenger Edwin De Los Santos (14-1) and Charles Martin (28-3-1) looks to get back to winning ways against Devin Vargas (22-7), in an eight-round contest.
