Two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is preparing for a clash with UFC superstar Francis Ngannou, and during their face off, ‘AJ’ was quick to respond to suggestions that, if anyone is getting knocked out on the night, it is the former UFC champion.
Anthony Joshua’s chin and knockout power has been questioned ever since he suffered his first career loss against Andy Ruiz back in 2019, although he has never been stopped since despite two losses to Oleksandr Usyk.
Following those defeats, Joshua got back to winning ways with wins over Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius, whom the Brit seemed to make hard work of, but looked back to his best against Otto Wallin in December, forcing the Swede to retire after five rounds.
In their face off on DAZN Boxing, ‘AJ’ claimed that his power is being underestimated, to which Ngannou seemed to suggest that his chin is the reason why fans fear for him these days.
Joshua: – “You know what it is? People underestimate me, a lot.”
Ngannou: – “It’s not underestimating you, it is knockout [susceptibility]”.
Joshua: – “Who has knocked me out like that? Where I am [unconscious]?”
Ngannou: – “That is not what I mean, it is more like we are both going to be looking for the knockout. Which I don’t think is a problem because I will try to knock him out if I have the opportunity and I think that he will do the same thing.”
Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou will go toe-to-toe on Friday March 8th live on both DAZN PPV and Sky Sports Box Office, topping a bill that features another stellar heavyweight showdown as Zhilei Zhang defends his WBO interim title against Joseph Parker.
