David Haye has been mentioning Anthony Joshua’s name a lot recently.
The former WBA World heavyweight champion is doing his best to get a fight against Joshua sometime in 2018. Haye has faith that if he and Joshua can both win their upcoming fights, a fight could happen next year and according to ‘The Hayemaker’, it will one of the biggest in British history.
“Hopefully he wins his fights, I win my fights, and we could potentially have the biggest all British fight in history,” said Haye in an interview.
So far Joshua has kept fairly quiet about the whole thing but he had this to say.
“I don’t really want to start mentioning other fighters,” commented Joshua when asked about Haye in an interview with IFL.tv.
The bottom line is this: Joshua isn’t thinking about Haye, but concentrating on Pulev instead.
“Every time I mention another fighter, you build something up that ain’t even there. I’m just staying relevant to whom I’m fighting. I’m relevant for fighting Pulev right now. I’m not relevant for Wilder [Deontay] with all due respect. I’m not relevant for Ortiz [Luis] or for Haye,” he explained.
If the fight should come to fruition, then Joshua might start mentioning Haye’s name a bit more often.
“Let that fight happen then I’ll start talking about it. Everyone is mentioning my name and everytime I mention theirs ‘Anthony is ready to fight,’ I’m relevant for Pulev and that’s where my focus is right now,” said the heavyweight champion.
