Anthony Joshua has revealed the fight that fans should expect to see him in this December.
The former unified world heavyweight champion returned to winning ways this month with a unanimous points decision over American, Jermaine Franklin.
Despite his team promising fans a three-fight year, ‘AJ’ surprisingly announced the he wouldn’t be out again until the end of the year, going against analysts’ advice to get more work in under new trainer, Derrick James.
Whilst a July bout has since been put back on the table, it was assumed that a big-money winter fight was in the works. Joshua has now confirmed as much.
On a visit to the Under Armour store in Battersea Power Station, Joshua told fans that a lot was happening to make the fight, as per Bridport News.
“In December potentially there is a big fight that should be cracking with me and Wilder. It has been a long time coming. There are a lot of moving shapes at the minute, there is a lot of things happening and moving shapes so one step at a time.
“But it has been a long time coming, for sure.”
His news comes amidst plenty of talk in the boxing world surrounding the Middle East and the territory’s bullish moves to make the biggest fights in the world.
One such rumour is a four-man heavyweight tournament including the division’s two champions, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, as well as Wilder and Joshua.
Even if the undisputed fight between Fury and Usyk can’t be made, it looks like fans may well see ‘AJ’ and his American rival, ‘The Bronze Bomber, finally face off.
The fight has been marinating ever since both men were champions, and it has lost little intrigue even despite the lack of titles.
