The unified IBF, IBO and WBA (Super) world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has reached out to bring his last opponent, Carlos Takam into camp.
Joshua is looking for ‘world class’sparring in preparation for his world heavyweight title unification showdown against WBO titleholder, Joseph Parker.
TalkSPORT received exclusive footage of Eddie Hearn calling Takam’s representatives.

Hearn shared Joshua views Takam as a ‘world class fighter’ following their meeting in October 2017.
Takam put on a brave and game performance when he came face to face with Joshua at The Principality Stadium.
The rugged 37-year old Cameroonian impressed many with his resilience and ability to absorb all of the formidable ‘AJ’s barrages without much trouble except for suffering the two problematic cuts which eventually caused the fight to come to a halt.
“The reason he [Joshua] wants to bring him [Takam] into camp is because he believes he is a world class fighter,” stated Eddie Hearn when talking to Takam’s representatives, a conversation recorded by talkSPORT.
Hearn also boosted his case for Takam agreeing to Joshua’s offer because it offers the Cameroonian a chance to be in the spotlight again which he hasn’t since late last year.
“From our point of view, we can do the necessary PR while he’s here.”
“He has to make some noise again, he’s gone missing since the fight.”
The idea of a Carlos Takam vs Dereck Chisora has been floated around and Eddie Hearn touched on the topic of that potential matchup.
“Sparring aside, what kind of fight does he want to be next? Will he fight Chisora next?”

Hearn also stressed this reaching out should not be misconstrued as a slight.
The complete opposite in the opinion of the Matchroom mogul, who says Joshua is seeking top quality sparring ahead of a world title unification showdown where four titles will be on the line.
“AJ doesn’t want to spar someone who is not on a world level.”
“He wants someone who is going to be competitive, it’s a compliment, not an insult.”
