The world heavyweight championship unification bout will also have historic significance as it is the first time in boxing history that two current heavyweight champions will be fighting in the United Kingdom.
Details regarding negotiations leading up the official announcement were made very public at times by Team Parker due to their displeasure over Hearn’s initial offers. Luckily both sides finally got it over the line and Hearn is expecting total fireworks.
“I was bantering with David Higgins yesterday. They truly believe they knock Anthony Joshua out. It’s not even in question for them,” told Hearn in an interview with Sky Sports.
Parker, his coach Kevin Barry and promoter Higgins have been taking numerous verbal shots at Joshua in the media. They believe his chin won’t last against the Kiwi, but Hearn warned that because of their antics, the audience might see a different Joshua leading up to the fight.
“We feel otherwise. You’re going to see a lot of fireworks this press conference. David Higgins has got a lot to say for himself, he’s a funny character, and Anthony Joshua doesn’t like what Joseph Parker has been saying,” said Hearn.
