Joshua Buatsi might not ring any bells just yet but definitely remember the name.
He is a bronze medallist from the 2016 Rio Olympic’s and he’s just signed with Anthony Joshua’s crew at Matchroom Boxing. There was a significant amount interest surrounding Buatsi due to his impressive Olympic performance but it was Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua who managed to get a hold of the light heavyweight first.
Buatsi will make his professional boxing debut on July 1s at the O2 in London in a six round fight.
The 24-year old fighter has also signed with AJ Boxing, which is Joshua’s management team. Buatsi be will managed by Joshua’s manager Freddie Cunningham.
Hearn is confident that they have signed a future world champion. The talented Buatsi will be fighting on all of the big events organised by Matchroom Boxing according to the promoter.
“We have an outstanding talent in Joshua Buatsi. He will be boxing on all our major shows. We’ll push him all the way to the top,” said Hearn according to the Daily Mail.

The highly touted talent has received many praises from the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Amir Khan. The man himself said that despite the big focus on university studies – boxing was always his top priority.
“My mum said to me, “make sure you finish your education. Boxing is a good sport but not everything is guaranteed. University was a Plan B [for me], boxing has always been Plan A…Everything I concentrate on is boxing, I wake up and think about boxing,” explained Buatsi.
