Bam Rodriguez Unhappy With Next Opponent: “He Has Shown Me Disrespect”

Bam Rodriguez is set to get back in the ring very soon with a man who he believes ‘has shown me disrespect.’

Rodriguez was last out with what many believe was one of his best performances when he clinically took apart game Brit Sunny Edwards and knocked him out to become WBO and IBF unified flyweight world champion back in December.

Now, he will step up in weight to take on long-time division ruler Juan Francisco Estrada, who will be defending his WBC and Ring Magazine world super-flyweight titles at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday June 29.

Estrada’s record sits at 44-3 with 28 KOs and this will be the first defence of his titles since he beat Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez for the second time in their epic trilogy back in December 2022.

Rodriguez is a hungry young Mexican champion who won his first world title by beating Carlos Cuadras in February 2022 before twice defending it, including once against the big-punching Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.

Speaking to Matchroom Boxing, Rodriguez explains why he has extra motivation for this unification fight.

“You know he has shown me respect but he has also shown me a bit of disrespect saying he’s not very impressed with my performances so that’s another reason I wanted this fight but once I do beat him I believe that is the passing of the torch of the flyweight division.”

This mouth-watering flyweight world title contest will take place live worldwide on DAZN.
