Tony Bellew says welterweight contender Conor Benn should forget the idea of facing either Amir Khan or Kell Brook and focus on becoming a world champion instead.
The two British stars will settle their rivalry on Saturday in Manchester and the winner has been linked to a bout against Benn.
Rumours suggest Khan will retire after tomorrow night while Brook believes he can carry on and secure more big fights for his career.
In his latest column for DAZN, Bellew said: “Khan and Brook have been huge draws over the past decade, generating huge crowds and PPV buys, and it could benefit Benn’s crossover appeal if he were to fight either man in what would be certain to be a marquee event.
“I believe that being world champion must be his priority. A world title fight against a leading name at welterweight would be a big attraction in Britain, and if victorious, it’s possible Benn’s profile would grow even bigger without the contributions of Khan or Brook.”
Benn’s next fight has been pencilled in for April 16 on DAZN. Although there has been no official announcement South Africa’s Chris Van Heerden appears to be the front-runner to face the unbeaten 25-year-old.
