David Haye surprised people with his latest Anthony Joshua call out.
But one guy who definitely was not surprised is Haye’s rival, Tony Bellew.
“Typical David Haye. He’s a fantasist and not a realist. He ain’t beating a man of that size who can athletically do what he can do. In David’s mind, he believes he can beat anyone of that kind of size,” said Bellew to Boxing Social.
The WBC Emeritus World cruiserweight champion then went into detail about why in his mind Haye doesn’t stand a chance against the current number one heavyweight.
Haye recently said that he will find a way to beat the bigger Joshua, Bellew disagrees.
“He can’t. This is not Nikolai Valujev, a stumbling giant who couldn’t probably even tie his own laces. You’re talking about one of the physically best athletes I’ve ever seen in the heavyweight division in Anthony Joshua.
I’m not saying he’s perfect. I’m not saying he’s the second coming of Mike Tyson. What I’m saying is, he’s an amazing athlete. Very fast, very powerful. Does the basics very well. And has such a size advantage, strength, power, and speed over the guys he’s fighting. They don’t stand a chance,” explained Bellew.
Bellew definitely feels that he still has unfinished business with Haye. ‘The Bomber’ says that he has to prove to the public that he can beat a healthy Haye.
“Hopefully the p*ssies Achilles won’t go this time. Hopefully, I can just punch him and put him to sleep good and proper,” told the Liverpudlian.
Bellew wasn’t the household name that he is now before their last meeting. His knockout win over Haye made him a nice chunk of money and Bellew believes he is the A-side in the rematch. Though this time around, there won’t be any hugs after the fight.
“I don’t need David Haye. David Haye needs me. There will no mutual respect or embrace. Everybody thinks I won because he got injured. If that’s what the public want to see, I can beat David no problem,” he said.
A lot of people, including Haye, didn’t have much faith in Bellew winning but he managed to cause an upset.
“He believed all the hype and all the BS and he paid dearly for it. If we do it again – I’m gonna retire you for good this time.”
