According to promoter Eddie Hearn, the rematch between David Haye and Tony Bellew has lost its steam. Bellew recently announced that big news is on the way regarding his next fight. Haye is reportedly getting ready to fight Hughie Fury next should he defeat Joseph Parker for the WBO heavyweight title in September.
“I don’t think Bellew-Haye will happen. Although there were hugs and kisses in the ring after the fight, trying to get these two to agree to anything is a complete disaster,” told Hearn to Sky Sports.
The two fighters are simply not getting along at all. Any hopes of a rematch are basically dead.
“Tony Bellew feels like he got the win, so he should get the benefits of that win, and David Haye feels like Bellew still isn’t on his level. When you’re talking about ring walks, who goes first on the poster, changing rooms, splits – all this kind of stuff, it’s impossible. “I think at this stage, Bellew-Haye II is virtually dead,” revealed the promoter.
It’s anyone’s guess who Bellew will fight next. He has called out WBO champion Parker on multiple occasions and should he retain against Fury, The Liverpudlian might be next in line.
