After the world-rated Liam Williams relinquished his crown, the British Boxing Board of Control has confirmed that the November 13 rematch between Denzel Bentley and Mark Heffron has been sanctioned for the vacant British middleweight title.
WBO No.1 contender Williams will now focus on a fight with that organisation’s champion Demetrius Andrade.
Heffron (25-1-1, 19 KOs) and Bentley (13-0-1, 11 KOs) drew in September in one of the best fights of a Covid-19 interrupted year.
On hearing he was fighting for the British title, Heffron said: “My daughter Poppy wants that title belt for Christmas and I never let her down.”
Bentley, also brimming with self-belief, added: “Being British and fighting for the British title is an honour. I want to conquer home first, then I’ll go on to conquer the world.”
Bentley-Heffron II will be broadcast live on BT Sport on November 13.
