Denzel Bentley will be aiming for the 14th win inside the distance when he fights Linus Udofia on Friday night.
The 27-year-old’s vacant British middleweight title fight will be shown live on Channel 5 and a win for Bentley will see him become a two-time champion. In November 2020 he won the Lonsdale belt after Mark Heffron retired in their rematch but subsequently lost in his first defence to Felix Cash when he was stopped in the third round.
Ahead of this Friday’s fight night inside Indigo at The O2, Bentley said: “He’s a good fighter so I’m not just going out there and expecting a knockout, but I will be looking for one. Other than that, I’ll just go and enjoy my boxing until I smell blood; then I’ll take him out.”
Following the loss to Cash there was a return to winning ways for Bentley last time halting the challenge of Sam Evans in round three of their bout.
The South Londoner believes fighting for the British title is good preparation for potentially bigger championship fights down the line.
“Some people fight their whole career and never even get a shot at it, as others bypass it, but I think it is good experience. It helps you get the feel for a championship fight for when you want to push on to European and world level. Guys at this level domestically are potential European and World champions but you’re fighting for the British (title), it’s always going to be a good fight.”null
