Tyson Fury’s trainer Peter Fury recently paid a visit to BoxNation’s studios and sat down for an interview. When asked about Tyson’s situation and his comeback, the trainer revealed a lot of interesting information.
“Our legal team is working the authorities that be to get his suspension lifted at the moment. We should hopefully hear in the next two weeks about that,” said the trainer.
Tyson’s younger cousin Hughie Fury is fighting for the WBO heavyweight title against Joseph Parker on September 23rd in Manchester. If all goes according to plan, Hughie won’t be the only Fury fighting for a title that night.
“If it’s successful, we are looking to put him [Tyson] on the same bill as Hughie on the 23rd of September. He’ll fight for a version of a world title,” told Peter Fury.
‘The Gypsy King’ has not fought since defeating Wladimir Klitschko back in 2015. Fury lost his license and also got suspended by the BBBoC because of drug abuse and failing a drug test. He has since gained a lot of weight but the trainer says Fury will eventually shed it off.
“He’s around 24 stone at the moment. Though, he’s already lost a couple of stone. He will be in shape,” summarised the trainer.
