Deontay Wilder’s former co-trainer Mark Breland has no doubt that Tyson Fury will dominate Anthony Joshua when the rival heavyweight kings collide this summer.
With the undisputed world heavyweight title clash apparently heading to the Middle East in either June or July, Fury is currently a 4/7 favourite to emerge victorious with Betfred.
Two-time world welterweight champion Breland, who stopped Lloyd Honeyghan in three rounds back in March 1990, is certainly backing that outcome with a withering assessment of Joshua’s jab and boxing acumen.
“Here’s a guy who doesn’t have a jab at all. When he fought [Andy] Ruiz in the second fight, people talked about the jab, that wasn’t a jab, he was just doing this [tapping],” Breland told ‘The Fight is Right’ podcast after revealing his thoughts on his split with Wilder last year.
“Fury would beat him up. He has good mind games. He plays with these guys, he’s playing with their heads and guys get mad or frustrated, so frustrated it can throw them off their game.
“I’m a fighter, I watch boxing, I watch fighters – from my eyes and what I see, I could beat [Joshua]. He’s just straightforward, he’s not hard to hit.”
