Kell Brook has predicted Oleksandr Usyk will once again prevail against Anthony Joshua and suggests that the latter may in fact retire, should that result occur.
Speaking to Safe Betting Sites (quotes sourced by Daily Star) Brook said:
“To be honest with you, I see Usyk beating him again. In a boxing match, it’s Usyk’s all day every day.”
Though leaving the door to a Joshua victory slightly ajar, the former IBF welterweight champion seemed to side with those who believe that Joshua’s only chance of victory lies in utilising his natural advantages in both size and strength.
“The only way that Anthony Joshua can win is to use his strength and his power, to put it on [Usyk] from round one and to use his size and strength to put it on him in that way.”
Thirty-six-year-old Brook, whose last fight took place in February, wherein he defeated long-term rival Amir Khan by sixth-round technical knockout, further suggested that, if defeated, Joshua might follow the action taken by his former-foe Khan and retire, saying:
“He could retire if he did get beat, because he wouldn’t have the x-factor anymore, basically.”
Such sentiments and outcomes currently remain abstract, but they will soon become concrete, as Usyk and Joshua contest the IBF, WBA, WBO and Ring Magazine titles in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday night.
Time will soon reveal the future of Joshua who even in defeat could still land multimillion pound super-fights against the likes of Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder.
