Lightweight contenders Luke Campbell and Ryan Garcia have agreed a deal in principle for their WBC interim 135lbs title fight after a purse bids ceremony was conducted via Zoom videoconference from the WBC headquarters in Mexico City.
The purse bid has now been delayed for seven days while the two parties go to contract.
At present, the proposed fight date is at the end of November with the bout due to take place in either the UK or US depending on the Covid-19 situation in those territories.
Campbell-Garcia is part of a highly confusing WBC title picture at lightweight where Vasiliy Lomachenko is the ‘Franchise’ champion and Devin Haney the ‘Full’ champion with a WBC Diamond title bout between Javier Fortuna and Jorge Linares also scheduled to take place before Linares contracted Covid-19.
